Decade’s Best in Jeopardy?- So the biggest fight in history may not happen after all? You don’t say. Seems to me that a big fight is already taking place just in trying to get this Godzilla event inked. Alright so we have the 2 best fighters in the world fighting in the same weight class, we have a date already set, we also have a location, so now both of you just pen your signature next to the x and let’s get this thing rolling. Sounds easy enough right? Wrong. Nothing comes easy when dealing with Money Mayweather. All things must be on Floyd’s terms, Floyd is a take it or leave it kind of guy. It’s his way or no damn way. At the same time though, maybe just maybe the blame should go on both fighters.

Allow me to explain. I agree that Floyd’s demands of blood test to be done whenever he chooses to be drawn upon Pacquiao is ridiculous. Especially when Pacquiao has already agreed to having blood drawn in January, 30 days before the fight, and right after the fight. At the same time though, it’s just blood work, what’s the big deal? Shit, for 25-30 million, I’ll let you poke me till I’m blue in the face or till I’m as pale as Kelly Pavlik, whichever comes first. I doubt that the Pac-monster is afraid of needles, after all the man has tatoos. I also doubt that he is afraid of blood, after all the sport he dabbles in is a bloodsport. The more and more that this mega fight keeps getting stalled, the more I feel that both fighters don’t really want to face one another.

It’s hard for me to imagine Sweet Pea Whitaker making such demands. Sweet Pea was a very gifted boxer who really believed the shit he spit because Sweet Pea believed in his skill, Sweet Pea also was smart enough to know that a fight is won on skills not on strength. It’s also hard for me to imagine Roberto Duran or Julio Cesar Chavez saying no to a few more pinches thus allowing the chance to really punctuate their greatness slip away. I have always said that this is the kind of fight that the fans really want, but history demands it. History should be the only thing making demands here. Manny and Floyd, please do not let this bloody affair or principle get in the way of the greatest boxing fight of all.
