Suavecito Looking To Put All Bantamweight’s On Notice!

Rico, How’s it going? How do you feel right now coming off your big win against Santos this past Friday night?

RR- I feel real good Albert, I was able to put it all together and I basically went out there and did what we were working on in camp. I will like to thank everyone that came out for the support and also all the eyes that tuned in.

Yes, you looked real sharp, I was especially digging your footwork. You moved in and out and you did it against a tough veteran fighter.

RR- Thanks for the compliment, and you are right about Santos, Santos was a tough opponent. I try to be very versatile, in this game you can not allow yourself to be one dimensional.

Well as I mentioned, you are a joy to watch so how soon can we expect to see you in the ring again?

RR- So far I should be fighting on the Arreola/Adamek card, I don’t have an opponent just yet but as soon as it becomes available I will call you to let you know.

So what’s this I hear about you sparring a few rounds against Rigondeaux, how did that go?

RR- That took place at the Wild Card. It was good sparring. Rigondeaux is very talented. I felt that I had him on the inside and on the outside it was 50/50.

I view you as a boxer-puncher. I have joked with your people about how I would love to see a showdown with you against Antonio Escalante. What are your thoughts on Escalante? Did you catch his most recent war?

RR- Escalante is a real banger. You can tell that he has that power, but as you mentioned, I am a boxer/puncher meaning I too can punch as well as box. I didn’t catch his recent fight but I heard it was a real war. I’m upset that I missed it.

So you are now 15-0, what other names would you like to lock horns against?

RR- Wilfredo Vazquez Jr., I also wanted Lopez but Lopez went on to 126, so I guess not him anymore. I guess they want Lopez to fight Gamboa. Who do you have in that one? I think Gamboa wins because Lopez looked very beatable against Mtagwa.

I feel that Lopez is the more versatile fighter out of the two, Gamboa at times thinks speed 100% and relies on that too much to a point to where it makes him look reckless in there. Right now I would have to say Lopez over Gamboa. Who do you have in the Mosley/Mayweather dance?

RR- Man, it’s very tough to call that one. I love both fighters. I look up to both fighters because I admire their skill. I would have to say Mayweather. Mosley is a veteran who has been in alot of wars so Mayweather to me will go on to win. Mayweather’s counters are going to get the best of Shane. Floyd won’t be with his arms down like he was against Marquez though, he can’t do that against Shane. Great fight though. Can’t wait. Let me ask you, who do you have in the Pacquaio/Clottey fight?

I think that you are right on about Mayweather. At the same time though, I felt that Castillo beat Floyd the first time they fought. If you go back and look at that fight, you can clearly see that Castillo won by taking Floyd out of his comfort zone. Castillo made Floyd fight alot harder than he had to. I see Mosley doing the same. Floyd can not afford to sit back with his arms down waiting for Shane. As far as Pacquiao/Clottey goes, I say Pacquiao by UD. Clottey’s only chance is to keep his foot glued to the gas pedal. You can’t win a fight covering up all the time, you got to set him up otherwise Pacquaio will eat you up.

RR- I agree with you. Pacquiao is a monster.

Through hard work and dedication, I have no doubt in my mind that one day we will be predicting the outcome on one of your huge future fights, Thanks alot for your time. I will keep in contact with you.

RR- For sure, thanks alot for the call, I will save your number and give you a call so we can talk some boxing. This was fun, thanks for the kind words and the support. I really appreciate it and am glad that I made you a Rico Ramos fan. I will not dissapoint. Take care.
