Jose Navarro takes another step in his quest to win an elusive world title when he faces Juan Jose Beltran in a six-round bantamweight bout on the Fight Night Club card Thursday at Club Nokia in Los Angeles. The card will be televised on Fox Sports Net and streamed live on RingTV.com beginning at 8 p.m. PT / 11 p.m. ET.Navarro, the talented 2000 Olympian from L.A., bounced back from three consecutive losses to easily outpoint tough journeyman Benji Garcia in a six-rounder in his Fight Night Club debut in May.Navarro (27-5, 12 knockouts) has lost a total of four world junior bantamweight title fights, at least three of which were so close they could’ve gone his way. And three of the four took place in hostile territory. The title fights: He lost a split decision to Katsushige Kawashima in Tokyo in 2005, in which one judge had him winning 120-109 while the other two gave Kawashima the nod by one and two points. He lost a unanimous decision to Masamori Tokuyama in Osaka, Japan in 2006. He lost a unanimous but razor-thin decision to Dmitry Kirillov in Russia in 2007. And he lost a split decision to then-hot Cristian Mijares in Las Vegas in 2008, a fight that included a 120-108 score in his favor. That might be enough to drive some fighters away from the sport, but he feels he was too close too many times to give up.”I’m gonna give it one more try,” he said. “And I’m going to get it. I’m going to keep working hard. I believe you can get anything if you keep working.”Beltran is a journeyman from Los Mochis, Mexico, who apparently will be moving down from junior featherweight to face Navarro. Also, Nestor Rocha (21-2, 7 KOs) will begin the rebuilding process after he was stopped in one round by Hozumi Hasegawa a year ago, his first world title shot. The Los Angeles-area product faces the always-ready Garcia (14-15-3, 1 KO) in a six-round bantamweight bout.Junior welterweight prospect Jamie Kavanagh (2-0, 1 KO) of Ireland, trained by Freddie Roach in Hollywood, returns to Fight Night Club after a victory last month. His opponent has yet to be determined.Ramon Valadez (1-0) of East Los Angeles also returns to Fight Night Club, facing Angelino Oscar Andrade (1-0, 1 KO) in a four-round junior welterweight bout. And Jesus Rodriquez (2-0) of Van Nuys takes on Luis Martinez (2-3-1) of L.A. in a four-round lightweight bout.Tickets, ranging from $19.75 to $250 (on stage), are available by calling TicketMaster at 1-800-745-3000, online at www.ticketmaster.com and at the Staples Center box office.
