Freddie Roach definitely wants Floyd Mayweather next for his protegee Manny Pacquiao. A win over Mayweather, Roach insists, “would be the icing on the cake”.
“It would be the biggest fight of all time, put the loss on his record that would be pleasing and then we could retire happily.”
“Me ? I’m going to keep on going until I can’t go on any more. Eddie Futch [Roach's mentor] was 92 when he stopped, so I will just keep going.”
Again, the noise in the background is Manny Pacquiao training. “We look for other fighters’ flaws and we pick them apart. I help Manny to do that. One of the mistakes for Cotto is that he was calling the shots in his camp. There’s a danger there. A fighter can makes fundamental mistakes, and the trainer needs to be looking out for those things, and put the fighter straight. Manny doesn’t call the shots. We negotiate.” read more
